I got Matt's book and jumped into the beginner program. I've been able to get through 5 weeks of it so far.

First, this program really pushes me. Sometimes after the workout, I just collapse and lay there for a while. And I'm not in bad shape. So I'd recommend this to those of you who don't have a lot of time, and want to get the most out of what little time they have to exercise. The strength workouts usually take me about 35-37 minutes to finish (including a 5 min warmup) and the conditioning workouts take 13-21 minutes to finish. That doesn't include the time afterwards where I'm laying on my back happily gasping for air.

Second, there's a lot of additional info in here that gives you a great basis to begin from. The "why" and the "how" are just as important as the exercise program itself. I have a personal story here. I was getting a little lower back pain after doing some front squats. The book has a couple pages on the front squat. Between that and sending Matt an email (which he answered happily and promptly), I was able to improve my form a lot and avoid any permanent damage to my back.

So why am I smiling? Because I'm getting stronger. A lot stronger. And not just on paper. It is noticably easier to move real world objects like furniture or boxes.
